Pius Library has the following resources that may give you ideas for paper topics, provide background information about a topic, and/or get you started with a bibliography of helpful resources.

CQ Researcher - published 48 times per year with each issue exploring a current topic.

Opposing Viewpoints - provides different viewpoints about potentially controversial topics, such as the Achievement Gap, Addiction, AIDS, Gays in the Military, Gambling, Unemployment, the Taliban, Coal, Doomsday Scenarios, and many more.

Encyclopedias - Pius Library has many print and online general and subject-specific encyclopedias.

To find them, search the SLU Library Catalog using your topic and the word "encyclopedias".
For example,

  • to locate an encyclopedia about sustainability by keyword, type      sustainability and encyclopedias
  • to locate encyclopedias about psychology by subject, type              psychology--encyclopedias
