SLU's Government Documents collection officially began in 1866 with Pius XII Memorial Library's status as a Federal Depository Library. Collection strengths lie in both the historical collection and electronic access to current government information. Its 700,000 volumes most notably include the following:
- more than 6,000 volumes of the Congressional Serial Set
- a complete run of the American State Papers and the Congressional Globe
- 18th and 19th Century Census materials
- a large selection of NASA documents
The majority of the documents collection is housed at the Locust Street Library, with microfiche, cd-roms, and CIA and Missouri USGS maps housed at Pius XII Memorial Library.
Items are available through a variety of service delivery options, requestable through the SLU Libraries catalog. Many older materials are not cataloged, so please ask for help at a first-floor service desk for assistance locating historical documents.
