How can I download an eBook/eBook chapter from ClinicalKey?

Answer

Through the SLU Libraries' subscription to Elseviere's ClinicalKey, you can access full text eBook content both in the online HTML reader and by downloading PDFs by chapter. PDFs of chapters are provided for the majority of book titles in ClinicalKey, with the exception of books intended for the medical education setting (used by students and trainees on an undergraduate and graduate level).

If you would like access to Book PDFs (if applicable) or to personalize your experience on ClinicalKey (e.g., Saved Content, Presentation Maker), you will need to register (create a user profile/personal account) and log in using those credentials.

To create a personal account, follow these instructions below. (You can also find an instruction guide with screenshots here.)

  1. Go to ClinicalKey.
  2. On the home page, select 'Register' in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    • If you are already on the Log In page, click 'Not Registered? Register now' which can be found below the 'Log in' button.
  3. Enter a username (your email address).
    • Your email address is your username unless you had a prior account, in which case we will alert you to this. The email address you choose for your username cannot exceed 50 characters.
Please note: Your username is case sensitive.
  4. Enter a chosen password.
    • Your password does not require the use of special characters.
    • Your password must be between 5 and 20 characters long.
Please note: Your password is case sensitive.

After completing these steps:

  • You have registered for a ClinicalKey user profile/personal account.
  • You will receive a confirmation email.
