Market capitalization is a company's worth as indicated by the price of its issued and outstanding stock shares; the value is calculated by multiplying price by the number of shares outstanding.  A company's shares outstanding are reported in its quarterly and annual balance sheet.  Several library databases provide this information as part of a company's financial profile.

In S&P's NetAdvantage, search by company name or ticker symbol, then click Valuation and look for Market Cap.

In Mergent, search by company name or ticker symbol, then click Capital Stock on the Company Details tab and look for Market Cap.
