It depends on where your hometown is. However, many people could find sources local to their hometown via a library databases called Nexis Uni. It includes regional, national, and international newspapers in full text from about 1980 to today. You may be able to find your hometown newspaper or at least newspapers from your state, Canadian province, country, or world region in this database. (See tutorial below.)

Another option would be to look up your hometown newspaper, local government, and local associations and organziations on the Web. What will be most relevant will be dependent on your research topic.
