Sharing a limited-access EBSCO ebook might be an option for your class, depending on publisher permissions.

  • If SLU Libraries only own one copy of an ebook, a download option for the full book will not be available.
  • If SLU Libraries own a limited number of copies (but more than one), a download option will appear for the full book.

When all copies are in use via download or open in the EBSCO ebook viewer, no one else will be able to access the ebook.

We recommend classes or groups do not download the entire book but instead utilize the option to download a chapter or a select number of pages in PDF format, which can be saved, emailed, or printed. This will not use a copy of the book, and will allow sharing. You can find instructions to download chapters or pages of ebooks here.

Please note that different publishers allow different page limit permissions for downloading. Therefore, sharing limited access titles by utilizing the above feature is only available for titles where the publisher allows chapter or page downloads.

You can find the permissions of any EBSCO ebook in the Permissions section of the ebook record on EBSCOhost:
